Most of the fixtures in a driveline shop grab the slip yoke by the outside, so unless they had reason to believe there was a problem with the internal splines, chances are they wouldn't be checked or noticed. Easiest way to tell is by slipping it over a spare output shaft, usually a go or no-go kinda deal. It's possible your output shaft is thrashed, but if IIRC they are hardened while the factory slip yokes are not, ie. the output shaft usually wins when they fight

. But I'd try a different slip yoke first, even if it does end up being the output shaft is junked, you'll need a new one anyway. If you can't find a
