Have you ever tried Zero Rust? It is the bomb... And, I am not just saying that because I am a distributor *cough*choke*

It is half the price as POR and has tested to twice teh life in a Navy Salt Spray Test. You can topcoat it with no special treatment, contains no iisocyanates or lead and you can actually get the lid off 2 weeks later. You can brush it on or thin it with 1 part lacquer or enamel thinner to 4 parts ZR and spray it on. Available in spray cans, quarts, gallons, etc. Just to give you an idea on the price comparison, we sell the quart cans for $18 and that includes Ohio State Tax.

i get my POR pretty cheap to be honest... and I like the product. After our in house testing, I am sold on it pretty good.
On a side note, after getting a late start, and having some storms chase me inside... I still got some progress done. It's just loosly installed, but it's up in there. I had to use a small foloor jack and a bottle jack and even then it still wasn't easy... but it only fell off the jacks twice.

Looks great, Longhorn Man... How did you prep the frame before paint? It looks really nice.

well, to be honest, I didn't prep it enough. I pretty much knew it when I started brushing it on, but I am in a hurry now so i didn't care too much.
First, about a month ago, i took it to work and lifted the front about 4 feet off the ground and steamed it off the best I could (engine still in, drove it there and home)
Then, once I had it down to bare frame rails as seen in the first pic, i scraped it with a paint scraper for an hr or two, then hosed it down with a can of oven cleaner (2 aplications) and blasted it with a gas powered pressure washer i borrowed. I would say one more aplication woulda been perfect.
After that, i just brushed the stuff on, and when it dried, i sprayed some more spray bomb clear. (seems to be doing the trick... had a piece laying out back with clear for a month in the sun... so far it's still lookin good, unlike the front crossmember which is a bit hazy from the same time in the sun without the clear.
