New wheels and tires on the K/20

I just put these on today, they are 16.5 x 6.75 steel wheels and 33x12.50x16.5 BFGoodrich mud terrains. They look pretty good, but I am not 100% sure I like them yet? I didnt like the super skinny ones that were on it before, so I thought I would try these. The truck is mostly original and want to keep the original look. What do you think??? Here is before and after.......

I like the new look but better than the skinnys but wonder how a less aggressive all-terrain would have looked.......

I didnt really want a mud tire, but I got a super deal on these. I have been toying around with what to put on this truck for several months. I have had these tires for almost a year sitting in the garage, so I just thought I would try them and see. I was going to use some 16x7 wheels and 285/75/16 tires. If I dont end up liking these I will just go the other route

Re: New wheels and tires on the K/20

Was that a typo? You put 33 12.5 on 16.5 x 6.75 inches wide? Or are those 8.75 inches wide? Of course I love the look since thats what I have on my K20. I went with the All Terrain though since it will be mostly a street truck. They aren't as noisy and I believe they will last longer on the street.

Super nice looking truck all the way around. I doubt Ill ever get mine to that point since Ive found Im actually using it alot...as a truck...lol go figure.

No typo, The wheels are 6.75" wide. I know they are kinda narrow, but i couldnt find any 8.25" wheels. They actually look pretty good on that skinny of a wheel though.

I didnt know you could get that tire on that size wheel. When I had a set of 33 12.5 15's put on 15x8 wheels the tire guys were skeptical they would go on.

I like the look you have going. Its stockish looking, but tough at the same time.

Re: New wheels and tires on the K/20

I've always bought skinny tires because they go through the snow better. But you know what, I don't drive my truck in the snow because of the salt. And out on the lake where I do drive it in the winter, the skinny tires dig down and spin on the ice.

So this weekend I had an occasion to pully my buddies Trailblazer out of the lake where he was trying to pull his boat and trailer out. Those skinny tires dug down too fast. I'm thinking "fat" is the way to go.

Long story short, I like the wider tires.

I sure like that look. The stock 16.5 wheels have a deeper look to them than the later 16s.I take second looks sometimes thinking they are 8.25s.I never thought 12.50s could mount up so good.

I like the look of the truck with either tire. I've got skinny tires on my 70 K5and actually like the look really well. Either way, you can't go wrong with that truck.

Joe, I say leave it just like that. I love stock looking trucks but I just don't like the small tire. I basically did the same thing on my 02HD 2500 i put 305 70'S on the stock wheels.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I am going to leave them on for now and see how I like them. I have only driven it about 8 miles so far.
