Control Arm Shafts

I need to replace the control arm shafts, upper and lower both sides. I was looking up the parts and it shows two numbers for the uppers. One is the regular and the other said “Offset Shaft Kit; Problem Solver; Provides Additional Positive Camber Adjustment”. This is for my 79 Sierra, C15, stock height, running 31 10.50 R15. Dose anyone know the difference and why someone would need them to be offset?

Re: Control Arm Shafts

The off-set shafts are made as a "band-aid" repair for vehicles that will not meet the adjustment specification. This is usually from something that is bent or from lowering. It is not the "proper" fix......but it is cheaper. The shaft is "off-set" toward the outside, which will allow for more outward tilt to the top of the tire. The upper shaft mounts behind the frame bracket, so you can only take-out so much as far as shims go. Once all of the shims are gone, there is no other way to get the top of the tire tilted out. (more vertical)
If yours are straight (standard) now, you will be fine with the standard units.

Ok so I don't want to use these if nothing is bent? I couldn't make them work?

Re: Control Arm Shafts

I was asking because I couldn't find the regular ones for the price I found the offsets (about a $30 diff ea). I found 1 on Amazon but I need both. I finally found 2 and ordered them though so it's all good. Thanks for the help Longhair.
