In Box spare tire mount

Does anyone have a picture of what the rod/bolt looks like that is used to mount the spare tire inside the bed on the factory mount?

I am talking about the mount on the inside of the bed in the left front corner. I have the mount inside the bed, but no bolt or rod.

Anybody have any suggestions for what they have used to mount a tire here?

Re: In Box spare tire mount

I have another thread on here asking about the same thing. I would like to see the original setup also, but it appears that pics of that setup are hard to come by.

Re: In Box spare tire mount

I have the same setup in my longbed. what I did was I got a mounting hook and butterfly nut from a trunk mounted spare in a 80`s gm full size (like a monte or regal) and the cap that mounts in the hole for the hub of the rim. I had to lengthen the J hook (mounting hook with threads fot the nut) with a piece of all thread and there you have it. Sorry no pics but you can find those mount hooks and butterfly nuts in any salvage yard. the J hook fits perfect in the mounting bar attatched to the inside of the bed

Re: In Box spare tire mount

Thanks Michael, several of us are looking for photos of how they looked when they rolled out of the factory. I currently have mine set up in a similar way as yours but I want it to be the way it was originally.

Could be correct, I don't know
This is Jayshays pic from the other post, I am puzzled by the bolt that is circled. All of these brackets have a slot for a bolt that goes up and down, surely something went there and it did something?

I'm thinking that little bracket is just for re-enforcement of the whole item and someone just put a/the bolt there so so as not to protrude out.
A slot in the bracket really does not make it of much use on mine for holding anything other than possibly pinching the bolt there to be out of the way should you want the full bed
other than that I think mine is original as it came with the original spare with the wing nut being the only thing I figure is not (is a nylon locker nut with a bracket attached)

all I can figure

Here's what I use. You can order them from J.C. Whitney, I think.
