tailgate won't stay closed
I can't get my tailgate to stay closed. It is an 05 and I have tried to adjust the striker bolts but it doesn't seem to want to catch. Anyone else had this problem?

Re: tailgate won't stay closed
Our 04 2500HD did the same thing. We took it back to the dealer. They lubed one side and replaced the other.

Re: tailgate won't stay closed
it is in the handel. they get rusty and dont let the latches spring back. i work in a bodyshop and have replaced many many handles! if you take the bezel off and spray under the handle you can see where it pivits just work in some good penatrent and you should be golden if not get a new handle

Re: tailgate won't stay closed
I've had that issue on my 2000 GMC GMT800 pickup. No new parts needed, just pull off the tailgate handle bezel and clean/regrease the handle mechanism.
Also, pull the latches from either side of the tailgate and regrease those as well, you should have zero issues after that |
