Rear Main Leaf?

Broke my main leaf spring on my 71 3/4 ton. Are mains the same in 1/2 and 3/4 tons? I know the lengths are the same, but what about load capacity?

Re: Rear Main Leaf?

The load capacity is quite a bit different.

Also there is more than one rating for 3/4 ton springs as the camper (like mine) had a higher load rating.

If you have the original glove box door in it the spring pn plus it's rate should be shown there.

I'd suggest replacing both springs so that they match in rating. I've also thought about swapping to 1/2 ton springs on my 71 to get a smoother ride and get it down a couple of inches as I don't carry a camper on it and don't often carry any load that 1/2 ton springs couldn't handle.
