67 GMC Frame and BB Motor Mounts
Here's the question thoughs of you who have a 67 with a Big Block what motor mounts did you use? Was there any modification you had to do. I have 72 and 68-71 motor mounts and they do not fit properly. Not for sure what to do now. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, DREW67

Re: 67 GMC Frame and BB Motor Mounts
you must trim the frame rails in the area i highlighted, I took some photos of mine, but i forgot the camera at the shop, I will post them up this weekend if you like, it clearly shows the area to trim, after that the mounts fit perfect!
its ends up being about 1/2" of material to cut off.. but there's lots of meat there.

Re: 67 GMC Frame and BB Motor Mounts
well, as far as I know it's either cut a notch, or drill new holes in the frame.. I haven't found anyone to get around it yet or make them fit, unless they build new perches..
not sure whats so bad about notching the frame a little? the '68+ come factory notched to fit the mounts i believe. same thing if you want power steering in a '67. I pounded in a dimple into the frame rail just like the '68+ frames come stock.

Re: 67 GMC Frame and BB Motor Mounts
You are right I just measured the frame rail on my 72 and it's 1-3/4" and on my 67 it's 2-3/4 wow I never paid attention to that. I guess sense I have both mounts which ones are the best 68-71 or 72 motor mounts.
Thanks

Re: 67 GMC Frame and BB Motor Mounts
Use the 72 mounts. They're safer and they isolate the engine vibration a lot better.
