I'm swapping out my rear axle. I have all the parts stripped off, and the u-bolts are undone, but the trailing arms won't come loose, and the u-bolts won't come out. I even had me and the kids jumping up and down in the bed of the truck to try and get the trailing arms loose, but they don't budge. Anyone had this problem before? I tried various hammers and I ruined a good crowbar already.

I took my trailing arms and all out and swapped them.

well i cant see why it would be stuck aside from rust dirt grime the usual cantidates.

if the bolts are F'd from the hammering take a torch/sawzaw to them that always works. if not soak it in penetrating lube (PB WD-40) for a hour or so and then return to beating on it.

as for the trailing arms. i havent had that problem but if i did i would think maybe once the axle is out try putting the ubolt back on and trying a come along somewhat tight but not more than 100lbs and try hammering gently.

iv'e had the problem with the ubolts rusted solid where they go thru the trailing arms /i've always hacked them off with a cutoff wheel and got the axel out/ then i removed the trailing arms and with heat big hammer while in a vise got what was left out of the trailing arms// use new ubolts when putting back together

I had to heat mine with a torch, and they were still a pain to remove. loaded with grime and rust. I heated the control arm at the ubolts, and then drove a pry bar between the control arm and the rear end

Soak them down with PB Blaster....wait an hour then soak them again....repeat until they break loose. I used an impact gun to remove the nuts.
