disc swap ?

i read soom where that you can use 3/4 ton lower control arms off a 67-72 truck and 98 or newer spindle to get discs has any one done this and if so any problems i would like to know these thing befor i start thanks for the info

thanks for the reply did you have to cut the tie rods or did they fit 1st time out or any other probs did you incounter you see my big problem is my truck is my dd so down time is big time thanks

ive heard you can do this but swapping the whole front crossmember from a 73-87 truck would be alot easier.. it all hust bolts to the frame.. no mis matched parts.. and you can ussually score the whole crossmember for about $100-150

I was going to do this method but never hooked up with a good set of 3/4 ton lower arms. From everything I have read, you can use '67-'81, just anything '73 and up uses rubber bushings.

Once you have the lower arms, you use the '88-'98 light duty 3/4 ton spindles, rotors and calipers (or '92-'98 1/2 ton spindles, same spindles). Just use the ball joints for those years.

Nice thing with this is, you can use either 5 or 6 lug rotors and if you ever wanted to change to the other one, just buy that rotor and you're done. Everything else is the same.

As for the tie rods, that above post does talk about which ones to use. That was the only unclear part but it did seem the right part numbers were finally figured out.

If you need a set of spindles, I have some I am not going to use, since I picked up a full disc setup from a '74, PM me.
