the weight of a one ton

how do u know how much a 1 ton weights cause a ton is what 2000lbs and i know they weight more than that see im going to get farm tags for my half ton truck but to get farm tags it must be a one ton so im going to get a weight slip made out for it saying its a one ton and then i get to buy new axles how kool is that

a one ton pickup will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000+ pounds depending on motor/trans/2wd/4wd etc.

I doubt "they" will give you a bogus weight rating because it will without a doubt be based on the factory GVW which can be referenced by the VIN and the vin plate. Its not just the axles it the springs too and with the one ton its a bigger frame, wheel/tire weight capacity, brakes, yada yada

but you never know......

well i know there is more than just changeing axles but that is what im doing so in case if i get pulled over they will not see that its realy a 1/2 ton does a one ton weight more than a 1/2 ton by alot cause from what ive see there not that far off in weight plus ive told the dmv that its started life out as a1/2 ton the said it didnt matter they need the weight slip to know how much to charge me
