Gettin' there, slow but sure

Finally got the bed back on my truck. Seems like a lifetime since I first took it off? Got the mounting bolts in, just have to tighten them up. Then start on the rear lights. Grandson was a great help with all the bedbolts. Hope he gets into these trucks sometime. Here's a few pics of putting it together and after it's in place. Enjoy.

Keep him in the garage with you and you will definitely pass on the legacy!

The truck looks great, and I love the filler mod!

Re: Gettin' there, slow but sure

Thanks for all the compliments. Been trying to work with the grandson(he's 16), but he goes at things at around 500 mph. If I could just get him to slowdown a little, there's a lot of potential in him. He's always wanting to help, but as you all know, there's somethings on these trucks ya just gotta take yer time with.

72BlckButy- the filler neck was the hardest part, and thank god for all the how to's in the help section.

LockDoc- Believe me, I've told him. If I could just slow him down a little.

redhead69- Paint is a 2002 GM Light Meadowmist Bronze.

70LonghornCST- Yes I am.

semperfidoordie- Woodbeds do look good. Wife's upset because I told her we'd have to borrow son's truck to haul anything. Gonna try and find a rubber mat to cover wood incase son isn't around.

Here's a couple more pics.

Re: Gettin' there, slow but sure

that old 78(?) ford on the curb looks pretty darn nice too. Those things actually rusted up a little worse than our GM trucks did in these parts.

Re: Gettin' there, slow but sure

Dan , That truck sure is lookin purty!
I was up your way last week putting in a pool liner ,then went to Fairborn.
Been too busy to stop and shoot the bull though.
And I'm suppose to be semi-retired. Now I'm just plain tired.
Anyway, keep up the GREAT work!

Re: Gettin' there, slow but sure

OhioDan, I have, or will be installing a wood bed into my truck and have the same "hauling" issue. If you have a farm and feed supply near you, you might want to inquire about Horse Trailer matting. It's thick, tough, and has lots of cushioning. It comes in different size sheets. You'll need to purchase a slightly over sized piece and cut to fit. Just an idea. I'll be getting some for my truck bed.
