Question for the air bag guys.

I am getting ready to install the compressor and tank for my rear air bags. It is a small compressor and a one gallon tank. The problem is I can't find anywhere to mount it under the bed area. i have a stepside bed with both a blazer tank and a hidden hitch. Inside the frame rails the tank hits the trailing arms. Outside the frame rail and it looks like the steps would hit since it i a narrow bed. Under the frame rail hangs too low. Any ideas? What did you guys do?

Re: Question for the air bag guys.

Will it fit in between the hitch? Thats where I put it on my suburban.

Re: Question for the air bag guys.

THanks for the pic. Unfortunately I don't have that much room between the hitch and the tank. It appears that on mine the space in between is smaller, and their is a crossmember in the spot. if I attach it to the crossmember it puts the tank lower than the hidden hitch, almost at the same level as the bottom of the gas tank. I can't put it on top of the brace, not enough room and it would hit the floor of the bed. Thanks for the pics though. Any other ideas?

inside of the frame, up front by the t-arm x member? between the frame and the trailing arm.

don't have one to look at right now, but there might be enough room in there.

I have a dumb question. Do air bags give a smoother ride. I have a 4X4 and thinking about putting them on. I would be grateful for any insite. IvelDesigns I heard that there was flooding in Des Moines. Hope you didn't get any of that nasty stuff.

Yes.

When set-up correctly, they can give a smoother ride. As one board member had stated in another thread . . .... "It's like riding on air" (that one made me chuckle a when I read it).

Re: Question for the air bag guys.

Are you willing to mount to the bottom of the bed floor. Try looking between driveshaft and trailing arm, above the E-Brake mount. I just cut the exhaust out of my 70 step and that is where the muffler was mounted.

I have a see through bed right now (I got to beat out original bed wood), I will look closer in the morning.

Re: Question for the air bag guys.

Thanks for the post guys. Y'all are thinking the same areas I have been thinking. Beside the trailing arm on the frame doesn't fit, and my mufflers are in the space you were talking about by the trailing arm crossmember. I guess I will have to look at it again when I get the bed on it. I was hoping to get it all plumbed up before putting the bed back on, but It doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Re: Question for the air bag guys.

Shawn I don't know how large the compressor is but can it be mounted outside the frame under the cab? No exhaust issue there.
