I haven't, but here would be my plan. Don't mention ANYTHING about it not being stock. Just play like it's the original 350 that came with the truck. There is no way they can possibly tell the difference from external appearance. Run a cam that will have a smooth idle. This will keep emissions in check and will not tip them off that they are being fooled.

Now this will be tedious, but you will need to use a Quadrajet carburetor. You will most likely have to richen the primaries up a bit. If you can find the stock metering rod and jet combination for something like a 400 small block, that would be a good place to start.

And of course, I'm hoping your truck passes smog at this point and has all the original equipment. Transfer all of it over and make sure it all works.

^^ Great ideas! My truck just passed smog a few weeks ago, now the engine is siezed. So I know that I have good smog equipment.

I just had my truck blow a rear axle seal and is leaking oil like a sieve. I'm not going to bother to SMOG it, I know it won't pass. It has oil fumes bellowing out of the dipstick tube and breather. It's a gonner. I'm out of funds though as my car just cost me thousands in stupid crap ($#&^ german cars...) So there she sits in the front of the house...
