turns good one way but not the other..
ok dude here's the backround story first..
i swapped my 83's corporate 10 bolts(6 bolt pattern) for a corporate 10 and 14 SF (8 bolt patternhubs) now i dont recall specifically positioning my powersteering pump or my axels in anyspecific postion... and i dont rememer marking my steering wheel either ( i think ihad the whole dash out at the time also) i jsut kinda lifted the truck and swapped the axels... now i took my steering stabalisers and "matched" their positions with eyeballing and permanant marker against both axels and installed them in the same spot ( i beleive) but now my issue is this my truck SUCKS at turning left.. but turns right reallly really good any ideas where i should start?

Re: turns good one way but not the other..
There are way too many guys/trucks here to keep them straight from memory.....
Lift? If so, how much? Steering arm the same? Drag link? As long as nothing too radical is going on here, you can adjust this by shortening the drag link. It is the connector between the Pitman arm (steering box) and the steering arm (bolted to the axle housing). It looks like a really short tie-rod. You just loosen the clamps and turn the sleeve to shorten it. Beware that this method will "take away" from the steering to the other side, so don't go crazy with it. In normal street driving, you steer sharper to the right, don't take too much away. |

Re: turns good one way but not the other..
We have to know what you have done to address your steering after installing the lift - like Longhair asked, did you change the steering arm or drag link to compensate for the lift?
Sure sounds to me like you drag link needs to be adjusted.

Re: turns good one way but not the other..
I'd start with replacing your stock steering arm with a raised steering arm.

Re: turns good one way but not the other..
Yukon Jack has it right, if you are running 6" of lift and all stock steering parts, that is definately your problem. Lift style steering arm, off-set drag link or maybe both.....Steering arm at a bare minimum.

Re: turns good one way but not the other..
I have bought alot of my lift parts from www.offroaddesign.com They don't show the raised steering arm on their website but they have it - call them at 970-945-7777 to get a price. My memory is it is between $50 and $80 but give them a call to see for sure.
