Time to get tires

Will 275/60-15 tires fit my 66 GMC on the stock rims? I kinda want to go with the same width front and back, will there be clearance problems. My truck is not lowered yet, but I will be doing drop spindles later. Should I be looking for bigger rims? Thanks for any help.

Re: Time to get tires

I'm running 275/45/15 on my truck with plenty of room for them. The only problem you might have is the 275/60/15 tires might be to wide for stock wheels. I would look into getting wider wheels.

Yes, wider rims would be a good idea. Most tire companies have a range of recommended wheel widths for each tire size, and you can easily look this up. Here's a recent discussion of wheel fit issues:

Re: Time to get tires

Anthony,

The Tire and Rim Association says 7-1/2 is the narrowest rim approved for 275/60R15.

Re: Time to get tires

Thanks guys, I think I'm going with the 275s. The stock wheels are 8" wide, aren't they?
