Straight Six's
Could I see pictures of the engine compartments of those of you who are running inline six cylinders? I'd like to see those that are all originally restored, well used, and tricked out too. I'm working on mine and would like some ideas and help on what's supoposed to where and how things should look or could look. Thanks in advance.

Re: Straight Six's
Mine falls into the well-used but original category. Its the in my beater truck, and still has the factory smog equipment.
It runs OK!

Re: Straight Six's
After looking at some of these sixes, I think I'll keep mine for a while longer. I had been thinking of slapping a 350 in with a 700R4.
Hey, bowtietruck, are those all add on? Or did the truck come with A/C, ps, pb? Several years ago I saw an El Camino six in a j-yard with all of that equipment on it including HEI. If I had been smart, I would have confiscated it all... |

Re: Straight Six's
Hey kyull67 and others!
Where did you get those chrome side covers? Do you have a chrome timing cover on that?..I can't see. I was wanting a chrome valve cover, timing cover, thermostat housing, and side covers, but I'm having a really hard time finding any thing other than a valve cover. Anyone know where I can buy this stuff?? Also, kyull67, where did you get those headers? If you run those headers you have to run dual pipes out ...right? |

Re: Straight Six's
68gmsee, Those are add-ons from that era (or as close to the era as possible) Alot of search & rescue hours went in to finding that stuff.

The headers are Cliffords. http://www.cliffordperformance.net/ Yes you do have to run dual exhaust at least for a few feet. I got them off ebay for dirt cheap. You can find alot of parts on Ebay. Last edited by kyull67; 06-25-2008 at 02:23 AM. |
