Where do I start?

I would like to begin the resto of my 70 SWB but don't know where to start. This will be a very long term project and would like to drive it (when possible) during the resto. Where should I start? Drive Train? It needs very minimal rust repair, should I start there? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The best thing to do is have a daily driver and tear this one down to the frame. I couldnt even begin on my project till I had another truck to drive.

Re: Where do I start?

First thing you need to do is take lots of pictures, of everything & at different angles. When you start to go back together and can’t remember where something goes you can look at the pictures.
I used this allot during my rebuild and it saves allot of time.
I recommend taking large digital pictures, you can zoom in on an area if need be.

Re: Where do I start?

Start with a notebook.Determine what you want.List the mods/options you want.If you want ideas read thru the builds section.Read thru the FAQ's pertaining to the project you are preparing for to gain as much knowledge as possible.Gather parts for each project and some $$$ for unexpected stuff.
I like to start with mechanical stuff first since mechanical can cause scratches etc. and also because I don't want to listen to any know it all say"it's a really cool truck and looks awesoem,Too bad it wont run."

Re: Where do I start?

first i'd say figure out what you want out of the finished product// a show truck/a very clean daily driver/ a weekend cruiser/ a truck that you can haul with/ a racer/ a lorider/etc
