Re: anyone got a STRAIGHT AXLE GASSER STYLE TRUCK

I love the Gasser look - but I'm ignorant when it comes to the definition of a Gasser. What's it all about? Any websites or forums where I can go to learn more?

My wife is vehemently against me going to look at this:

Meh, I'm dreaming. My wife will have none of it. I still gotta get my truck wrapped up and on the road. Hopefully we'll get it running this weekend.

Check this out ...... fuel for the fire .... not that any of us need any prompting.....

I should talk.... if a $900 Chevy gasser project like this one was available in my area I'd be on it..... but getting it from Washington state to Pennsylvania would be a hassle/expense..... maybe someone's (our C10) trying to tell me something..... Ha!!!!

I haven't seen any 67-72 truck gassers but I always liked this Willys. It was owned by the Grove brothers out of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Picture was taken in the early 60's at the Des Moines Dragway.

Ya gotta love the trailer!!

Re: anyone got a STRAIGHT AXLE GASSER STYLE TRUCK

Not that I'm smart or anything but the easyiest way to build a truck gasser would be to start with a 4x4 and remove the front axle and replace it with a 59-66 ford axle since that's like the only truck wide enough with a straight axle that would be wide enough to look right on a 67-72 chevy. The pad mounts are almost the same u would have to elongate the front holes on the axle pad to flip the axle to get that nose up look or use 4x4 lift springs. Simple crossover steering setup remove transfercase and inner fender wells and bam add some headers a 14 bolt from a 1 ton some wide rear and skinny fronts and u got a gasser. U can get a nice disk brake setup for the 59-66 ford axle from speedway and let's see what else... O ya I gotta 86 c-10 I wanna do this too but I'm worried the old time purists would call me a poser lol. I've built some quality gassers including a 64 ford pickup and they are very akward and hard to drive on the street. So u need another truck and a trailer before u decide to build one!!!! Lol. I forgot to add to the list a 632bbc with alky injection a 1471blower and a 4 speed. O ya and ladder bars don't for get the ladder bars.
