Link help

I need a little help with a link kit on my 71. I am not sure if I am going to do a parallel 4link, or triangular 4link. I am not really sure the difference between between the two. Also if i do the triangulated 4link where would i mount my bags?

What are your objectives for the truck? There are pros and cons to every link system. Are you planning on running a wide rear wheel? Do you plan on building your own link set-up?

I will most likely be building my own. It is going to be a bagged truck laying on 22's. Im thinking now of just going with a 2link. Is there a way i could just use the stock trailing arms as my linkage?

How will you be driving the truck? High horsepower or just a cruiser, or even just a trailer queen?

Alot of people i think frown on using the factory 2 link, but i did, and it worked great. For just a cruiser mind you. I would suggest either getting a longer panhard bar(cant remember who makes them, but they go to the opposing trailing arm), or doing watts link(i did, worked great, they now have bolt on kids). Using the stock panhard will create alot of side to side movement throughout your travel.

You say laying on 22's. Laying frame, pinch, door? To lay frame using the stock trailing arms, you must extend your notch way forward, to clear the trailing arms. They need to tuck inside of your frame.

You can use the factory spring spots, but i mounted my bags a little ahead, to get more lift, and run low pressure for a nice ride at height.

At the moment, im building a 78 blazer, which will most likely be a triangulated 4 link with the bars inside of the frame, so i can run wide wheels.

It all depends on what you want to do. If you want more info on using the stock trailing arms, im sure Porterbuilt knows his stuff, if not, let me know. I can give you a hand.

its going to be body dropped. Just cursing really. What do you mean on extending my notch way forward? If i extend is forward i wont clear my axle. Do you have any pictures of your setup?

well, i couldnt find my pictures of my notch, i had very few pictures of it, before the vehicle got burnt down

so the pic of the black on the top, is the frame i had on mine. the red marks, are where i had my bags mounted. the green portion, is where a normal notch would come down. if you look at the bottom picture, you can see how the yellow would be the factory trailing arms, and the frame has to stop alot earlier, so the arms can tuck INSIDE the frame. the baby blue would be the TA crossmember, and the dark blue, is the axle.

Yeah, it sucks. Long story short, someone burnt it down, because he thought i was stealing his gf, which was untrue. He had been beating her, and i convinced her she was better than that. Therefore, he burnt it down. Police said electrical, i said hell no, hired a PI, 30 min and he said there was gasoline all over inside. Anyway, pics http://www.cardomain.com/ride/738021/8

yep. it was. had a signed contract with this guy, he gave one payment, and broke my trust, and bounced. long gone. never heard from him again. kinda sucks.
