Restored POWER in my 98!
Yesterday I took the 10 minutes required to pull my MAF sensor and clean it and what a difference it made! I haven't done this since the fall. I highly recommend doing it! Feels like a big block and will spin my 32" tires with ease

Yup, MAF are the trick to efficiency. The sensor changes fuel and air ratios to match air flow. Keep it clean!! I clean mine every 6 months or as needed.

Re: Restored POWER in my 98!
mekdad- my motor has been converted to the newer style MFI injector setup which is pretty nice but is otherwise stock with 223,000. I put on a new cat and Hooker Aerochamber muffler. I can honestly say the muffler performance was felt immediately
ghemist- I agree every 6 months is a good idea. I also changed the air filter and picked up at least 1 MPG Not bad for 10-15 minutes of work! I filled up yesterday and will test it for sure this week

Re: Restored POWER in my 98!
I'm replacing the muffler on my Jimmy this summer. I'm not sure what to put on it. The Magna flows on my truck are awsome. Duals are great. However, I want my Jimmy a little quieter. Do have a sound clip of the Aerochamber? I can handle some sound but not too much. Even now the stock muffler sounds nice and throaty at low and part idle.

Re: Restored POWER in my 98!
Since this is my daily driver and I wasn't interested in noise, this is a good choice and a few people have complimented the sound. It's not much louder than stock. The best part is it's high quality and flows alot of cfm that you can really feel My buddy spliced it right into my existing pipe with a fitting or two and it's about the same dimensions as the stock muffler. I replaced my hollowed out cat with a Summit brand stainless model also. I'll try to get a sound clip this week but I have no clue how to post it.

Re: Restored POWER in my 98!
Just a note on the dirty MAF sensor. I used to have a few S10s in the family. All but one had the 4.3. Three of the V6 motors had K&N air filters on them. The ran great, but within about 3 to 6 months, they started to throw MAF codes. Come to find out after talking to a service manager at my Chevy Dealer, it was not uncommon to see the K&N oil collected on the screen of the MAF. I did the same thing with the MAF cleaner and it fixed the prob. I also cleaned the filters and reoiled and let the oil sit for about a day before reinstalling.
