Whats up with my seatbelts ?

I was just about to purchase some 6x9 brackets from bigblock73, then I went and looked at my truck. This seat belt arrangement is a little weird to me, but it looks 100% factory and the truck was completely original as far as the interior.

The truck is a 1977 GMC Sierra Grande. Can anyone tell me if they have seen this seat belt arrangement before ?

Here's pics. The picture of that bolt is what holds that top retractor down.

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

That is odd, I have never seen that before. All the 3 point belt setups I have seen in 73-87's have had the retractor portion mounted to the floor...and it was one retractor that ran the whole show, not two like you have shown. I wonder if those are aftermarket or dealer installed 3 point belts? I am stumped.

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

Well it's good to know someone else has these. Anyone else have them ?

Also, that recessed mounting point that I posted a picture of....do all cabs of all years have that spot ?

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

I have 1980 parts cab that has the recess and a dimple for the hole to be trilled for the bolt.

Maybe a 77 only deal? I wonder what Ken has in his 77?

Guess I learned something new today.

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

I just went and looked at my 77's . One manufactured in Sept 76 (Silverado Package) and one manufactured in March 77 (Bonanza Package). Both have the same setup .

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

I know my blue one does. I got a brown one out in the yard, and a gray one on the farm (hour and a half away) but i would assume they are the same.

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

Does anyone make replacement seat belts for these trucks ? Interior is going to be black eventually, so seat belts to match couldn't hurt and the belts I have now are faded. If I got the single retractor setup, I could use those brackets.

Re: Whats up with my seatbelts ?

The black interior parts are pretty rare for these trucks.
