Re: cutting for shackles
Check out "suspension" in the general forum, if you post the question there you might get more hits.

Re: cutting for shackles
You don't need to cut if you have the longer 56" leafs. But if you do, here is a pic of mine

Re: cutting for shackles
I guess this is to what Jeff was referring with the 56" leafs. But, it looks like the bed support was notched anyway.

Re: cutting for shackles
Marcus, that pic confuses me. On my 73, I have the 56" leafs...and cut my supports like the instructions said...but didn't need to, the leafs clear just fine. My leaf eyelets are no where near that close to the bed floor either, and I too have 2" drop shackles.

Re: cutting for shackles
That's interesting , Jeff. I suspect that guy is running a drop leaf given the amount of drop on his truck. So, maybe that's why he notched it. On my truck, the stock shackle and leafs (52") put the eyelet just shy of the bed support. If I had gone with a drop shackle, then the eyelet would have been near the bottom of the bed floor kinda like in the pic only inline with the bed support.
(BTW, I'm looking forward to your finished 'product'. ![]()

Re: cutting for shackles
Are the cross support locations different on a LWB vs a SWB? I remember looking under my buddies long bed and thinking that his was in a different spot than mine.
