Reproduction Dash Headaches...

After years of living with my 84's cracked dash, and searching for an alternative, I purchased a reproduction from Cheyenne Pickup in Noble, OK. It is of very good quality and looks excellent, but doesn't fit at all, especially at the far passenger side, where the trim is nowhere close to looking correct.

Has anybody else had similar troubles with reproductions, or is it just me...

I am driving it back to the company in the morning, with my original to compare it to others they stock... Any suggestions for a non-air Canadian C10?

I always wondered if the aftermarket dashes would fit. I bought a GM dash pad but havent installed it yet. Good luck try and return it and buy a GM dash.

Anyone use the LMC one?

That's one of my fears - cracked dash from the TX sun.

What can you do to prevent it?

Re: Reproduction Dash Headaches...

keep them clean...armor all them regulary. but the ranger i just got rid of, had a dash pad on it since it was new, the dash pad looked brand new even though it was 17 years old.. you could put a dash pad on it, and then if you are going to shows and stuff, take it off, wipe down the dash, and its ready to show...

Re: Reproduction Dash Headaches...

Sorry, too late for pics... I took off work today and drove it back to the factory. They looked at it and compared it to several others they had in stock. Both of the dashes they had on hand, from the same batch as mine, had fitment issues. They compared several others to my factory dash (I pulled it and took it with me) and found one that was close, but the wrong color (four weeks until brown would be available again). After spending time looking at each, I decided to take up their offer of a refund.

Their customer service is awesome, the guys are good to deal with, and I'm sure I will purchase from them again, but it was just a lesson learned this time.

Re: Reproduction Dash Headaches...

Cheyenne pickup gets their own made for the 73-80 trucks from what they tell me and they are skinned vinyl (Dashes Direct doesn't make them )
As for the 81-87, I don't know about those.

I do know that I can get 81-91 dashes for these and they are listed in the catalog. They have to be dyed to match.. I am picking up some today.

Re: Reproduction Dash Headaches...

LMC's are from Dashes Direct anyway, and yes, the fit is lousy.

Re: Reproduction Dash Headaches...

After calling Cheyenne Pickup about my refund and inquiring about my refund, I decided to ask about a OE dash pad... Long story short, I hope I get my money and I ordered a GM unit from GM Parts Direct for $288. If I had just done that in the first place, I would have saved over $100...

I'll be interested in how that one fits.
