ball joints 1972 spindle vs 1981 a arms

I have a 1981 crossmember and suspension on my 68. I have a set of 1972 spindles in order to run the correct bearings for my 6 lug rotors. ( the 81 front had the 1" rotors)

I'v been searching to find what ball joints i need to run or if the 1981 ball joints will fit the 1972 spindle. if not the uppers would be easy enough to change but the lowers would be different for they are presse din.

any help will be appreciated.

Put 72 balljoints in the arms. You can borrow a joint press from Autozone ( I think they require a deposit, but you'll get it back when you return the press) The top ones will bolt in once you remove the old ones.

Actually the lower BJ is the same, it's the upper one that is different.

Lower BJ - '71-'87
Upper BJ - '71-'72 and '73-'87

Hope that helps.

BTW, the outer tie rods are different. I believe the inner ones are the same.
