Re: Should I put air in my truck?

I have been driving my truck for the last 10 years with out A/C. I just purchased a vintage air kit for my truck a month ago and have been taking my time getting it installed as I still use my truck as a daily driver. I can’t wait to have it finished. In hind site I wish I would have done these upgrade years ago. I did a sure fit system with a custom coil so that I could shave my fire wall and run my lines in-between my fender an inner fender. It has taken me a little longer to decide how to set every thing up but should look pretty cool when done. If you did the strait up sure fit system you could easily have it installed in a day. It took me three years to save up for mine so if you have the money I say go for it!!!!

If you don't have air then when you work outside it doesn't seem as hot. But if you have air and go to work outside iy seems twice as hot.

Re: Should I put air in my truck?

Is everyone getting soft these days?????

Back when I was growing up......... (now don't laugh, this is factual) A/C was unheard of in an automobile, much less a truck. No one that I knew, and I mean no one, had A/C in their cars, in their truck or in their houses. Unbelievable! But true..

Of course I'm up there in years where my kids just say, yeah, yeah, and everyday you walk 5 miles to school. I tell them no, sometimes I rode a horse.

Seriously though, I wish mine had a/c but can't afford the price.

No chisels. They weren't invented yet...

Actually, my first pen was a Schaefer liquid ink pen. It had the little lever on the side that you pivoted out to suck in ink from the inkwell (or squirt it at your buddy)..

What? You never heard of that? I bet you all never had to chop wood for the stove, go prime the well to get water, heat water to take a bath in a number 3 tub. Heck, y'all probably grew up with indoor toilets....

I do have to say that as I get older, I enjoy all the conviniences of modern life. A/C in my old GMC sure sounds nice.

Re: Should I put air in my truck?

I remember we had air in the cars and trucks we had...well a couple of the trucks. I grew up as a kid in the 70's. It seems now that I have gotten older...heat is brothering me. The manual steering is getting too me. 20 years ago it didnt bother me. Didnt like air. Was into having vehicles that didnt have any options.

Re: Should I put air in my truck?

I VERY distinctly remember both the first house & the first car I ever saw that were air conditioned. Both belonged to the same kids' parents (affluent attorney). '53 - 54 Chrysler ? & a 1940's Craftsman style 2-story house.

It was an AMAZING thing to experience on a hot, humid, North Missouri day.

I also remember buying the first color TV anybody in either my wife or my family ever owned........ in '74.

Damn----------- I'm getting OLD.

Re: Should I put air in my truck?

We had air when I was growing up. Opened the windows and turned on the attic fan. In the car, we just opened all the windows. Color TV? Heck, we just had one black and white TV and six remotes....I was the first remote my folks ever had.

Had some of them big black CD's, too, and some of the little ones had that great big hole in the middle of it. Had one of the early "cd" players that was very much a "green" device....had to wind it up to charge it before it would play just one "cd". Some of those "CDs" were red.

I built a crystal receiver radio set....got one station and had 50 feet of fine antenna wire strung all over my room....which had no heat and only had air....when the door was open and the attic fan was on.

Loved that house.
