Question GMC VIN decoding

Anybody know where I can find some information on decoding the VIN and service parts identification plate on my 73 GMC Suburban?

post the numbers. you can leave out the last few numbers so no one knows your exact vin... those last few arent needed to decode your vin.

the last six of them anyways, they are sequential unit assembly, IE if it says 106354 then it was the 6,354th built on the line at the plant it was built at that year. units started at 100,000, so 100,001 was the first off the line that year, the lowest i have ever seen was the 68 panel delivery, it was 100,775 and the 77 nova was 101,435

i have a numbers memory type of mind

i evne know the VINs by heart still, 1x27d7k101435 and CS158S100775, vin of the first C-10 i eve rhad was ce148j141539. i could go on all day with past vehicles i have no more, numbers rule

Can't say if the info is accurate but order (it's free) LMC's 73-87 GMC Truck catalog. It has VIN info in it. Go to www.lmctruck.com

Re: GMC VIN decoding

Hello to you too.........

Do you have a question? One word responses, won't get you much
You have brought back a 6 year old thread....that really doesn't say much anyway.
Are you looking for a better answer to this same question?
