Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

The names of two of my trucks are connected with music, because of my love for music. I call my '66 4X4 "Malo", thats spanish for bad, named after Jorge Santana's band Malo. I call my '65 4X4 "Hollywood" named after Kool And The Gang's song Hollywood Swinging.

Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

Well I've been thinking about it and I really like the name (OLD SLEEPY) because, well, it's not built for speed and it never will be. It's built for simply cruisin. And the fact that this truck has been sitting up on blocks quiet as can be for the past 4 1/2 years just waiting for me to get it back on the road. But she's back on the road and I love to drive it slow and easy. I get to show it off better that way.

Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

I named my '65 c10, Matraca... I was trying to think of a nice country sounding name... and then I recalled that is the name of a country music songwriter, so I thought it made perfect sense. I slept on it one night, I walked outside the next day and looked at it and said: Matraca, yeah, that'll work.

"Merge King"

Everybody just seems really polite and gets out of the way when this two tons of rusty iron with bad paint starts crossing the lane divider.

Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

I like like it!!

In the 80's I drove a 1988 4x4 with a euro style license plate velcroed to the front custom bumper (center of bumper was nearly 4.5' high.) This would would get the folks in front of me to move over - FAST - can you make it out? Cops did not like this much :-)

I had named that truck "Thumper". The rear license plate read 88 THMPR...

Isn't "Matraca" the racially charged name that cost that Virginia senator re-election in '06? There goes your political future!

Mine used to be "ole Rusty" but that doesn't work anymore.

My wife calls my truck the other women or my misstress but I refer to her as the money swallowing black hole (still wouldnt trade her for anything tho).

Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

When I bought my truck in 1976 , I named it " old blue " and had a front license plate made that I still have ! The reason for the name was it's color and it seemed appropriate !

I call mine Betsy, after the Beach Boys song. It came from Nebraska and traveled west, went slow and fast, was neglected and rebuilt. Just like the lyrics of the song say.

My wife said mine has the "Mater" look, so we call it Mater. I'm not sure where she gets that, though.

Re: So what did you name your Truck & Why...

When I first met my wife, my '62 Shorty Stepside was a daily driver. She named it The Grinch because it's green, and she says the hood and grill remind her of Dr. Seuss's drawings of the Grinch. It stuck.

On another note, The Grinch LIVES. It turned over today for the first time in 8 (yes, eight) years!! Lots of work to do, but The Grinch is ALIVE again!
