Pics of Emerald Green Pearl coat

After 15 years with the same paint, its time to repaint it. I got the truck 12 years ago and I was younger and never took the time to wax it and take care of it. It still gets compliments with the old faded paintjob and all the little primer spots, and the 1 dent it got 6 years ago that I never took the time to fix. I guess its a Chevy/GMC thing, awesome trucks!!! Anyways, its been green for 15 years and 12 that I have had, and its hard to change the name of this poor old truck, so its staying green.

Does anyone have a 67 with this paint, 67-72 will be just fine, being that they are all the same, minus the front clip and molding.

Re: Pics of Emerald Green Pearl coat

Come on guys, I'm sanding and getting ready for paint. I'm curious how the emerald green pearl will look. I'm considering forest green, but I'm just wanting a really dark green. The emerald and the forest greens are the only I have looked into. The emerald has white and gold pearls. I was thinking about a dark green that looks blue or purple in the right light, but I'm very new to paint and pearls.

Re: Pics of Emerald Green Pearl coat

Are you painting it a stock color or some custom hue? If you're going custom, I'd suggest going to your local automotive paint purveyor and picking up a pint (if they'll sell it that way) of the color you like along with the pearl you're eying and some clear. Prep a small piece (2'x2')of scrap sheet metal with some form to it (not just a flat piece) and spray it with color. Add some pearl to your 1st. coat of clear and spray it along the body lines only- highlighting the creases and curves. Spray a second coat with a bit less pearl in it over the whole panel. Then a third coat of straight clear.
That should give you a good indication of what you will end up with. Yeah it's gonna cost ya' about 50 bucks for the trial run, but it's money well spent to end up with a paint job you'll enjoy and be proud of.

I have some Emerald Metallic Green that was on the Late 90's astro vans I believe but alas it is still on the shelf in the garage. I like the color and want to keep it plain. No chrome just a silver pinstripe such as they came from the factory with! I can't wait to see pictures of yours because I am slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!

When I was looking for paint for my new ride, I looked at Jaguar British Racing Green. It was by far the best green I looked at. Very deep and dark.

Thanks, I'll look into that color.

I want to stay away from custom colors, its a DD and I don't want to repaint the whole truck everytime I get a small scratch or ding...lol. I want to sand, prime, and buy a pint, quart, or use paint left over from the paintjob.
