How much does an Air Conditioner Cost?

How much would it cost me to put in a bran new AC? I mean dryer, compressor, hoses, all that!

Anyone had it done recently? Can anyone give me a good estimate?

Thanks guys!

Check out this site

http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/

It's the cheapest I've seen A/C so far but I just started resurching them so I don't know much about them.

Year One has a kit for about $1300

Re: How much does an Air Conditioner Cost?

I spent about $600 on mine recently. $475 in parts. The rest in labor. Thanks to the stimulus package!!

All parts new! Custom made hoses for the serpentine belt. $150 to recharge the darn thing. Spung a leak at the high pressure switch. $35 to recharge it again.

My Hot Rod Air kit (which I have yet to even take out of the box) was $1058 shipped, with everything.

What all did it come with and what parts did you have to find outside of the kit ? I assume your truck was a non air truck before .

Re: How much does an Air Conditioner Cost?

hey frank, you get everything you need.my biggest time consumer was i switched compressor to passenger side and alternator to drivers side.had a little bracket hunt because of that.the coolest thing besides cold air is you get that ugly box out of the corner.everything is tucked up under the dash.you get a panel to cover the firewall hole for a semi smooth look.if i remember right, the non a/c cab kit and the a/c cab kit are the same price.i only had about half the stock components.so,i opted to start over new instead of buying stock stuff and mixing it with the unknown stuff that came on the truck.that polished compressor is also a plus compared to the stock hunk.

Re: How much does an Air Conditioner Cost?

Does anyone have experience with the "work truck" a/c they are selling on http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/ ? Seems like a good solution if you are just looking for some a/c.

(leave it to me to ask about the cheapest possible solution...)
