Smooth Firewall

Is there a company that makes a smooth firewall for 73-87 trucks?

Re: Smooth Firewall

Not that I am aware of. Pretty simple to do it yourself though.

Thanks for the reply. I was planning on doing it myself, but it would sure be easy if someone made it. Maybe I could make a mold when I do mine.

Re: Smooth Firewall

Did you just fill the holes and leave the factory supports? (I do not mean to discount the amount of effort it takes to do this)

pretty much. I cut out most of where the heater box was just below the pinch weld, and did the same on the driver side as well, and had to rebuild the gas pedal area and weld studs to the inside. On the driver side I used pretty thick sheet metal so it could support having the pedal assembly welded to it. All other smaller holes I just filled in one by one with sheet metal, with the exception of the support for the dash, and where the throttle cable comes through. I left the angeled pinch welds on the upper part of the fire wall - those were a can of worms I didn't want to open, plus they are fairly structural. All in all, if I had it to do over I wouldn't change the way I did it. It's just the right amount of "smooth" for me.
