Workin' on the '67
-
Well, I worked on the '67 today. Gave the old girl a tune up, changed the carb, finished up the electrical stuff, and Pat helped me replace the windshield. The windshield was cracked and fogged pretty bad. All in all a good day.... Trying to get it driveable so I can dismantle the '69 and get the frame shortened. When I get that done the '67 parts will be transferred to the shortened frame... LockDoc

Re: Workin' on the '67
Hey Leon,Do you have all 4 spoke wheels the same size?Believe it or not those things are actually worth something to the right vintage 4wd nut.If they are factory-built and not custom wheel shop made they are Jackmans. The first company to build them and IDed by the spokes running straight to the rim.White spokes were all call Jackmans,at first, just like cola gets called Coke.
Lookin`good on the w/s replacement.I need to do one, too.I`m tired of driving through fog.

Re: Workin' on the '67
Guess I'm an idiot, because I just gave away the five which came on my stepper, and was darn glad to get them away from the side of my garage.
Only took me two years to find somebody who would haul them off............ NOW I find out they were worth some $$$$$. Story of my life. |

Re: Workin' on the '67
here's the Jackman logo to look for....
they are massively thick too compared to other wheels. spokes are 1/4" thick on the smaller ones, so either the same or thicker I'd guess on the full sizers... here's a pic of a 14" jackman

glad to see you're getting started on her Leon. Let me know if you need a hand when it comes time to cut down the frame. I'd like to lend a hand if you need one.

Thanks OrangeCrush... 72-c20: Thanks for the pics. After seeing the close-ups I don't think that's what mine are. Levi: I'll let you know when I'm going to cut the frame... 67ChevyRedneck: Man, a guy can't get by with anything on this board can he.. (pic included) I haven't put the cowl vent on because I want to vacuum out the air boxes first. LockDoc

Thanks! I don't know how big a hurry you are in but I plan on heading that way for the Midwest All Truck Nats in 52 days 17 hours 9 minutes & 45 seconds (when this was typed anyway). I would be more than happy to give you a hand then. Be aware I have to have a good supply of homemade cookies and chocolate ice cream to keep me going though... LockDoc

Re: Workin' on the '67
I didn`t mean to side-sway your thread,Leon.I think it`s great of you to get out there and help your wife like that.
I hope you`re planning to do something different for a gas tank position. If that tire loses air it may come loose.I assume in the shortbed you`ll change that. Uhhh...side-swayin`again...sorry?

Jeez that looks clean! My truck doesn't need new glass, but it really could use it. Mine's still all factory.

I don't want to go out and help but she makes me. I wondered if anyone would pick up on the tank.. (should have figured it would be you)..... That's a 300 gal gas barrel, I figured I would need it to get to the National Board Meet next summer after I get the big block in it... LockDoc

Iowa would be cool - I might try to take out a loan for gas and make it to that one! (My brother lives in Des Moines)
