Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
I am almost ready for paint and found that the paint Eastwood carries is pretty affordable. They do not have paint chips available and it is difficult to judge what a color really looks like online but there are two I think I am going to decide from. The dark blue is supposed to be similar to the picture of the truck and was thinking of that but am starting to lean towards the ligher color. I will be doing white bumpers and have ralley wheels from a 73+ on it as well. What do you guys think?

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
My opinion only... I like them both, but if you are going for white bumpers and a plain jane truck look I would find something with out metal flake in it. The paint might look to overdone for the truck at that point, just my opinion though. Maybe the lighter one with no flake.

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
I second the notion on the metal flake - looks great but seems a little out of place on a plain jane. Both colors are nice, though.

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
It won't wuite be a complete plain jane, in between a plain jane and a custom. It does have a 3/5 drop on it and won't have a stock interior. Thanks for the suggestions so far!

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
The PO of my truck painted it gun metal gray (which I like), but I don't like the metal flake. My wife's Durango is a deep, rich blue, and without trim or a second color, it's too much.
If you keep the metal flake, go with the lighter blue. As always, it's just my $0.02. I don't think I've ever had a $0.50 comment.

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
Fine metallics are best........big flake metallics are for boats, dune buggys, and old schwinn bannana seats!

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
Either you're making fun of my mispelling of "banana" , or "banana seat" just sounds funny....which it does.
Either way, it's funny (or sad) that I even fricken remember banana seats......and another blast from the past...sissy bars!!!! .....which all have absolutely nothing to do with why this thread was started!

Re: Almost Time For Paint... Need Some Opinions
Do you plan on spraying your truck or having a shop do it? With flake that size doing a complete you need an painter that has alot of spray time. Also needs to be done in BC CC. Heavy flake will stripe like no tomorow on a complete. Depending on the size of the flake, you may even need special equipment to spray.
Although I realy like the colors you have choosen, I would pick the same blue tones with a lighter metalic. I love heavy metalic for stripes, flames, accents etc, on boats, tru customs and such, but a complete may wear on you after a while. JMHO, your truck, your coin, do it how you like it. |
