adding a headliner?

Well my 73 C10 is almost ready to head off to paint so it time to start figuring out the interior. My truck came with NO upper interior! I want to add a headliner and "B" pillar covers. What is the best way to do this? or what is the best company to purchase a kit from.. anybody have pics?

THANKS for any info/help

Re: adding a headliner?

best bet is a junkyard honestly, get a used board for the headliner, then recover it. A and B pillars you can sand and paint yourself. you will also need the forward and aft headliner supports. As well as the driver and passenger side headliner supports. the screws, its always best to use new hardware (even tho it can get costly). I got all my hardware through LMC, I think all together it shouldnt run you more than 40 bux with shipping to obtain all of the screws.

Re: adding a headliner?

There are a couple of complete sets without the board on ebay. Fixing to add a headliner in mine also. Going to hit up the local junkyards first before buying off the web.

LMDGUY, where in the valley are you located? I'm in Central Phoenix and headed to the ecology auto wrecking yard on 27th Avenue & Harrison, just west of downtown. Their were several 73-87's there and I believe several had what your looking for. Also keep checking the local craigslist again people parting these trucks here in the valley.

Re: adding a headliner?

Are the "A" pillar trim pieces the same for all years 73-87? Just wondering since the dash pads are different.

Thanks!

I just put a set from an 80 in my 87. My truck didn't have any trim or headliner either. I went with a highliner from LMC. It's expensive but adds a definite "cool" factor. I used all new self tapping screws I bought from Rural King, a dollar for 10 in a pack.

Re: adding a headliner?

They are different, but they will work. They had a "tail" on them for the 81-87 versions. I had a 86 interior in my 73, (didn't have a headliner either)

Woah, I've never seen a headliner like that. Is that factory?

Nope, it's $280 from LMC truck. Of course I customized it with my snow plow controls and exterior lighting switches. It also comes only in black, I used specialty paint for plastic.
