HELP!! Need some mesurements off your 49-54 front axle

Hey guys just like the title says , I am needing someone with a 49-54 chevy 1/2 truck that still has the front axle to measure your leaf springs on the front . I need the measurements across from outside to outside on the front of the front leafs and on the rear of the front leafs. I am putting an axle in my 55 2 door post and ended up getting one from a 48 but the springs are to narrow and will not meet up with my 55 frame rails or even get in the neighborhood. A fella told me that the 49-54 truck axles are wider. So like i said , on the front leaf springs i need to know what they measure from outside of spring to spring at the front of the front axle leafs and what they measure outside to outside of the rear of the front leafs.

Thank you GREATLY in advance!!!!!!!!!

48-55 1st are the same. They also taper toward the front meaning the springs are wider in the back than in the front. The axle is drilled that way.

You should look for a 55-2nd to 59, the springs will be 34" front to back measured from the outer side to the outer side of the spring. You will have to fab some perches but it will be closer than a 48-55-1.

Anyone ? anyone please? i am almost 100% positive that they will be the same distance , but id sure like someone that actually has one of these trucks to measure , all i really need is the measurement across the front of the springs outside to outside, My guess is it will be 26"s just the same as a 48 as dwscr says but i gotta be 100% positive

Re: HELP!! Need some mesurements off your 49-54 front axle

Ok bear with me here .

Now this fella says that this is a 54 chevy truck axle in his 55 chevy , as you can see the leafs run parralel with no taper and even though it has a tube steel stub frame it would still line up with the factory frame nicely. Ok so if this is a 54 chevy truck axle then what the hell is going on lol . The ones i measured all taper in like the 48 axle i have. So what is it , is the 49-54 truck axle parralel springs like i pictured or do they taper to the front Like this 48 axle i have . Need a measurement guys.

Re: HELP!! Need some mesurements off your 49-54 front axle

if you have a measuremenr accross th beam king pin to king pin. I can tell you what year he has but from the picture its 55-2nd to 59. The springs are wider the caps and are 55-59. Those caps won't work on a 48-55-2nd. When it stops raining here I'll send you the measurements of both AD and Taskforce trucks
