67 Panel
hey guys maybe you could all chime in and offer your advice or encouragement/ discouragement..
I am on Vacation and stumbled across a 67 Panel truck.... its basically a solid truck in need of some TLC.... all the good stuff that you cannot replace is there, and not rotten, but it has a 3/4 or 1 ton frame under it.... ( my guess is a 1 ton because it has a double stack of leafs . It also has a GM corp 14 axle, the hull tag indicates a 157 as the first 3 digits... ( 1/2T V8 67)it appears to be originally and orange truck that a P/O painted over in Met. Blue... (inc the TSID dash sticker) so I cannot ascertain all the info thegood the frame is clean the floor is solid and all there, the panels are great any minor rot can be replaced with aftermarket panels.... minor floor rot on DS it has side mouldings.... like a CST would have...and the current owner (who put the clip on it) salvaged the A/C system from the 72 (but not the dash panel) the bad.. it has a 72 GMC 1500 clip on it..and the front core support mounts do not line up withtheframe mounts....( about a 1/2 in off on the front to back axis) basically all there to make it a good truck... the battery was toast and it wouldnt take a jump... I couldnt hear the 72 350 run.... I will go back Mon night to hear it run and spend a lil more time looking it over.. basically anything I should look for? to me these trucks are liek HENS TEETH and very cool I think it might be awesome on a 4x4frame... let me know your thoughts... thanks

Re: 67 Panel
If its solid, and you like it, I say go for if the price is right. Panels are very cool, and they are getting really hard to come by.

Re: 67 Panel
If it is in any shape bodywise then it's worth saving.A frame isn't hard to come by and mechanics are fairly reasonable if you don't get too wild.If the price is right and you can build it or save it to build later then it's a no brainer.Changing front clips and such isn't a big deal.In actuality the SPID is not a big deal since most panels were sold as delivery trucks or workhorses they didn't get many options. In fact the passenger seat is listed as an option. Most had base V-8's or 6 cyl and 3 speeds.4X4 models were very rare and if I found a factory 4X4 I would want to restore it.The only 4X4 factory truck I have ever seen was a 292 4 speed truck.I have never seen a panel with any other than base trim unless it had been added.I'm not an authority on Panels but I have owned 3 and have had one since the late 1970's,so I have done as much research as possible.

Re: 67 Panel
I question what frame that Panel is on.It may be original. There were no 1t Panels like this. All the frames were the same,12t/3/4t.I don`t know why the core support doesn`t line up with the mounts...they should no matter what 67-72 clip it has.14-bolts never came in these trucks. It should be a round housing,an HO52 Corporate rear.

Re: 67 Panel
i know this... thats why i have subjected the $64,000 question to you folks.
it is the type of frame that 67-72 trucks have.... I was thinking that the body may have been mounted slightly forward.... (the cab mounts on my truck seem to have some "wiggle room") anyhow he wants 3500...

Re: 67 Panel
That`s not all that bad.Especially if it`s a decent body. These are about rare.I could have had a`67 for that much that a guy had added CST stuff,5-lugs,350/TH350 but had rust bad in the tail...I passed.
