I agree with the reply that you may have a ground problem. I have an '88 GMC that had a ground wire under the dash close to the parking brake that got loose and you will get all sorts of strange happenings. With the amount of plastic used in todays dashes the ground is much more critical. There should be an instrument ground under the dash and one under the hood that connects the body to the engine.
