I perfer 45 degree exiting out the side behind the rear tires.

With straight out the back, if you have a cover or shell camper on the bed it can/will bring exhaust into it due to the vacuume created behind the truck.

Mine exit out before the rear wheels and it looks fine but I'm going to pay the price to have it exit out the back. My reasons are #1) I think the sound is better out the back and, #2) I hate smelling the exhaust sitting at stop lights or idling. Granted, if I could ever get the carb tuned right it wouldn't smell so rich but I just like it out the back regardless. I do dread finding a shop to trust with this as it will be a challenge. There isn't much room back there....

Well I got it done.................18 inch Magnaflows.............2 1/2 inch tube in and out...exit in front of wheels......................sounds good runs good! I don't even hear them cruising..............but when i get on it..........it's got the sound!!!

Mine currently run at a 45-degree angle in front of the rear tires. That meant that the 40-series Flowmasters had to be beneath the cab floor. My wife hated the droning noise that is the result of that placement.

So, my plan now is for a pair of Cherry Bombs, under the front part of the bed, with tailpipes extending to the rear of the truck, exiting beneath the bumper. Now the question is whether to go with an old school look or to tuck them up behind he bumper corners. There was a truck that was done several years ago for the Texas Motor Speedway that had the tailpipes exiting behind the ends of the bumper....with just a little bit of the pipe showing.

Then, there's the possibility of using T/A exhaust tips.....behind the rear tires, but centered between the wheel opening and the bumper.

I like exhaust pipes all over the place.I mean,it depends on the vehicle,the look I`m going for,and/or performance.
I think on a longbed 4wd pickup that had nice wheels and paint I`d go with the stockish duals running out @ a 90 close behind the rear tires.That`s on a clean 4wd.Straight out under the bumper is nice,too,for a little hot rod touch.Mostly with a sport bumper.I think keeping them behind the wheels looks best with a step bumper.If the truck had a more off road look,like heavy bumpers,I`d run it out in front of the rear tires for a no b/s minimal damage exhaust.

Ive got glass pack out the back right know but im switching to flows and turned down out of the mufflers, it looks clean and sounds good to.

I like to have mine behind the wheels on an angle leveled with the bottom of the bed when you look at the truck from the side you wont see it...

Well IMO your Exhaust is your Vehicles Fart tube and i like to hide them as much as i can so i have always been pretty big on dumping it Right behind the cab where no one sees it.and run 45*s out of the mufflers. Gives the truck alot more of a rumble bouncing from the truck to the cab. but in front of the tire looks decent also.
