Has anybody out there shaved off the driprail on these trucks? Im thinking about trying it. Is it worth the trouble, or cause any issues with water getting into the cab. Any pictures or advise would be great. thanks

I'd like to know about the water issue. My truck had some rust under the drivers side A pillar so it took it off. I dont plan to do the roof drip rail though. I would like to get this truck back on the road. It takes me forever to do paint and body work.

these guys shaved them for the pink freak, but I don't know how it does with water, They probably don't drive it in the rain... no side windows either...

QWYKTRUK shaved the driprails on his, but I doubt he drives it in the rain.

I would take a water hose around your doors. If no leaks with it...you shouldn't have them driving! Jerry

Just don't turn it into a Barbie truck. But the babes do look nice, even if they could be my grand-daughters.

I had thought instead of shaving the drip rails, they might look cool peaked and molded in, that would still leave an overhang for the water to run off of.

to those who have shaved their drip rails: How hard is it to get the lines right. I'd like to shve them off my 64 panel, but the drip rails are say.. 12 FEET LONG!!! I just don't want to get in over my head or wind up with tons of body filler

Just do small sections at a time. No more than 12".

Ya i hear ya there, because the drop rail is the pinch were they attach the top. I guess just cut it off and grind smooth then weld em up....?? But ya 12ft on each side that would suck

If it's just a cut, grind, weld, smooth process I'm not to worried about tackling it, but what I am worried about is having the roof and side line up once the drip rail is gone. I don't know if this is a valid concern or if I'm just worrying too much?

Yea, it looks like it would be ok though, and pretty simple the more i look @ my cab. But you know something stupid usually happens or at least on my end of the deal

I've thought about just grinding them dowm a little bit, but im not sure how far I can go before the sheet metal starts to split apart?

that bobber truck was chopped , but it had the stock rails.

If you scrape the sealer out of the gutters , you will see all the spot welds , and the edge of the roof skin.

If you do start cutting them off I think the roof skin will come off too, and then you will have to re weld it.
