Three on the Column Shifter linkage

As I have been getting deeper in my truck things just keep coming up.I know that this is a very common problem that I have seen many have with their column shifters. Is there a company out there that just sells these shifters? I would like to keep mine because of the nostalgic in it..Even thou I am building a stroker 383 for the truck at the mean time and I am going to swap out the column and make it automatic. I just want to keep driving this truck the way it is without getting the shifter stuck as it is becoming almost all the time. While I assembling my new powertrain which will probably take me about six months I can still enjoy this truck....Any help will be GREATLY appreciate it by Your truly....

Re: Three on the Column Shifter linkage

Replacing the bushings, adjusting the levers, and greasing may help the shifting. Also, the end clamp is fastened to a bushing that can be adjusted to take up the end play in the shifter arms. If you remove the end clamp you can see the angled slots that allow the bushing to be adjusted tighter by rotating it.

Re: Three on the Column Shifter linkage

Thanks Jim!!!!
I will be giving it a try,,, I have search in this site as well in google to see if anyone makes or sell parts for this....If I could get it to work correct I would not make it automatic, definetly I do not want to cut the floor at least not even an option at this time....I wish I could find the whole thing brand new

Re: Three on the Column Shifter linkage

The board vendors should sell the bushings. Also there is a FAQ on this in the listing Krue did.It has great instructions on adjusting the shifter.I know I have seen (and been guilty of) replacing perfectly good column shifters because I did not know how to adjust.
