Re: Front spring shackles

I was wearing the outer edge of my rear tires on the`92 GMC I bought new.I didn`t notice until my second and larger set of tires, couldn`t wait to burn up the first set.I had a four wheel thrust alignment check done and it showed each side of the rear was toed in approx. 3/8".The tubes were assembled into the center misaligned at the factory.I was also getting wet brakes from the seals leaking from this problem. When the tires got worn you could really feel it didn`t want to go straight. With new tires it was alot better. But,it did still always wonder a bit.I wonder what a 4 wheel thrust alignment would yield?

Re: Front spring shackles

Could the corp 10 spring mount perches be set at a different angle than the stock tube? Just a thought. Good luck

Re: Front spring shackles

Ok this is weird, I was fooling around with everything under the front of the truck. When I get done I take it for a test drive, it was steering to the left and right like it was toed in too much, like Special-K has said in an earlier post. So I get back and adjust it a little. It drives fine!! WTF!! I messed with the steering stablizer a good bit, it was leaking so I changed it. Maybe it was the combination of both of those items. Anyways thank all of you that posted. I appreciate all the help!

I did the toe-in and put a new steering stabilizer on it. One of the two did it I guess.

Re: Front spring shackles

So,that shop`s alignment was bunk and caused all this concern? What a lame shop.I hate the attitude that if a vehicle is old you can expect to get it right.I don`t know if that`s the case, but I`ve run into that.

I'm not sure if thats the case, their a reputable shop. But it really did'nt take them too long to fool with it. I will take it somewhere else to make sure the toe is right though.

Yes you are correct. If I get time this weekend I'll bring it to some one else so I can get the toe set correctly.
