Pics stock 68 GMC 3/4 4x4 stepside

Been on the board for a while and have never posted an pictures of my truck. Pretty much stock and going to stay that way. You can still see the chalk serial num on the firewall and most of the wood is still in the bed. Planning on a frame-off one of these days.

That's what my truck should look like! Same color and everything! I would love for my tailgate to be that straight! Oh well, there's nothing wrong with mine that money won't fix...too bad I am broke!

Thanks 1969 GMC. I am planning on painting it the GMC dark yellow (school bus yellow) with a white top, grill, tailgate insert and wheels. I have a set of 68 factory buckets that will be saddle color to match the new interior. A new instrument cluster with tach and an original GMC AM radio are in the plan. I have power steering and power brakes ready to go on it. Tow hooks and west coast jr. mirrors too. I am going to replace the tires with the original looking big (33") mud/snow tires that came on it. I will be keeping that masive 305 V6 power plant, but replacing the current one with a 20,000 mi unit that came out of Slammed 67's truck. It has the 4:56 gear ratio and it will be replaced with a 3:73, so I can go a little farther than the Home Depot. The plan is to stay as original as is practical and put on as many factory options as I can afford.
Thanks for all the positive comments.
Erl

Still looking for 3 or 4 16" GMC hubcaps for this machine. Of course they must be for 67-72 model.

In the 3rd pic (of your interior), what is on the outside of the cab, just behind your drip rail? Is there something, or is it just a shadow?

72c10step,
That is a rubber gromet. It covers a hole where a large whip antenna was mounted. This truck was used in the Amerillo TX area until I bought it and those type of radios were common. That was way before cell phones.

Re: Pics stock 68 GMC 3/4 4x4 stepside

I read the first post and thought it was strange because I know I`ve seen pics of this beauty before. How do you guys come up with these ancient threads?I like seeing old treads. There have been plenty of threads with that color since,I know that. The color is as old as Chevy and maybe GMC trucks themselves. There hasn`t been a year to this day that it wasn`t available.Since after our years it has mostly been only offered as a fleet color.I have a`92 GMC I ordered in it because I`ve always liked it,my truck would be rare, and have a classic flavor to it as a continuation of the greatest pickups ever built. It`s know as Woodland Green and sometimes as Dark Green.
