need pics of 68's longbox bagged

anyone layed one of these out before?
buddy picked one up and were ready to stat oredering up some parts, so any recomendations?

and anyone got any pics?

welding is no problem, budget is around 2000 for parts, would like to lay on a 255/35/20,

thoughts on keeping the 2 link?

You should be "money" --pun intended--w/ a $2G budget. I am looking at spending around 1500 total for all the airbag components and suspension rebuild stuff. There are several longbeds on here completed and my 70 will be soon. Here's a link to a post w/ a bunch of 67-72's bagged to various heights

Below is Ivel Design's awesome longbed. His is technically a 69, but he put a 68 front clip on so it's almost a 68....

On parts, check out Early classic and CPP for suspension parts (rebuild kits, shock relocators and shocks, adjustable panhard bar, drop spindles, etc.)
For bags, the general consensus has been for the money Slam Specialty RE7's work great on our truck and have internal bumpstops but there are many other options (Firestone, etc)
For the air, you can go with Air Ride name brand but basically for the bags and air ride stuff, check out *****************

not as low as many others but it is a longbox and it is bagged...



I am not going extreme with this truck as it is still a work truck, so no c-notch, z'ing the frame, or cutting crossmembers. I will be modifying the front arms for a little more drop and to eliminate some bag rubbing but thats it.

Many people dont like the longbox bagged, but I think it is the cat's meow

How'd you manage 600 w/ spindles and bags? Used parts? THat's a sweet deal either way.

The bag setup was only about $600 (I think it was less, but I forget). I used the drop spindle disc kit from GMC Paul's ($500 I think).

I gotcha...thought you were saying 600 for everything. 600 is still a good deal for the bag setup...i'm gonna spend around 1100 and that's after a bunch of shopping around....where'd you get that kit and what type of bags/compressors/switches does it have? Checked your posts but couldn't find anything about it.

I bought a setup off ebay that someone started and never finished. It came with:

Thomas compressor
2 RE7 bags
2 RE6 bags
7 gallon tank
4 1/2" valves

I bought the front mounting kit, air line, and dump/fill adjusters, and some misc fittings from Suicide Doors, got 2 dual needle gauges off ebay, 7 switch controller off ebay, 4 more valves off ebay, and most of my press fittings off ebay.

The rest of the stuff I pieced together at Ace Hardware.

This time I am not being as cheap and will likely be running the dropmember front/rear setups. I still have some things to work out with the motor swap first, though.

I do not own this truck but I did shoot it. Was owned by a guy in Northern California by the name of Mike Webb and then the second owner of SIC Motorsports (San Jose) bought it from him. It was shown a couple times then SIC went under and I have no idea where the truck is now. Anyway, it's a longbed obviously and it's sitting on 22s with a nicely detailed and built 6-cylinder under the hood.

That is the one right there. Always liked that truck but was at some point supposed to have a full custom wood bed and that never happened as far as I know. Would have been killer to have the wood and that painted notch cover sticking through it.
