I am about to purchase an all original unmolested 427 engine four bolt main for a cheap price. I wanted to know if anyone here was familiar with this engine? Thanks.

Is it a vintage 427 or a talldeck truck engine ? The vintage 427's are nice . Talldeck motors are not as valuable and easy to build in my opinion .

If it is a vintage 427 that came from the factory , it will be worth some coin . My suggestion would be to find out what it came in . The numbers are on the block to identify it . I would then sell it and use the money to buy a crate engine or build a 454 . The 427's are high performance motors and are probably a lot more valueable to someone restoring one of the old cars than it will be in a truck . The engine may be valueable enough to pay for a good part of a nice big block build and a 454 will make more power and torque . Of course this is only my opinion .

Ditto. People are willing to pay premiums for stuff like this now. Should fund a sweet 454 build if you can turn it for a good price. Just make sure it's not a tall deck truck motor.

Also easy enough to build a 427 from a 454 block and 396 crank but the way I see it, there's no point in giving up cubic inches, especially in a heavy truck.

I plan on keeping it for awhile and then use it to fund my 6.0L swap.
