Correct voltage meter wiring question
I have an Autometer Voltage gauge to put in my dash...my question is what is the correct wiring of this ??
Does the - terminal on the guage go to the positive side of the battery ?? and then what about the + terminal ?? does this go to the alternator ?? and if so which wire on the alt. ?? thanks for any and all help.

If the Auto Meter wiring is anything like the VDO guages I recently put in my '72, you should have three wires/posts.
One goes to any 12 Volt source but preferably one downstream of your ignition switch. The other is a ground. The third is most likely for a small light in the guage. Splice this to your dash wiring. Hope this helps a little!

Positive goes to the fuse block. If you hook it to your batery, it will slowly kill the charge...just like leaving the dome light on...maybe a little les of a load.
The neg needs to go to a good ground...a clean spot under a bolt on your dash should work. |
