Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

I mounted some 275/60-15's on my 15x10 truck ralleys and put them on my '71 2wd blazer. (These are my beater wheels for my '86 Porterbuilt project) I'm not sure I like the look. I think they will look OK with the "lower wheelwell opening" of the '86. Especially with the frame on the ground. I think the 8" ralley will be going back on.
Also made a deal on a 67-72 fleetside shortbed from a great guy off Craigslist. Here's a couple pics.

I had to work again,so i didn't do much of anything. I did drive my truck to and from work, and i am kind of afraid. It ran great the whole time, this is scary! Stay tuned,it will need a motor next weekend. hehe

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

I went to a car show on Friday evening at the local Lowes. It had a pretty good turn out, but I didn't get any pics. Worked Saturday, and hit the local Cruise night. An old buddy just picked up a 42 Chevy truck, so we sat and talked about the changes he wanted to make.

Today I slept in a little so we went to the late Church service. Had lunch with the family, then had "honey do's" around the house.

Scored another craigslist find on Saturday: got a GM NOS 79-80 hood and NOS hood hinges for $200. The GM sticker is still on the hood Still have a few odds and ends to get before the resto gets underway later this year.

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

Bought another square this weekend. Its a 1987 suburban, pretty dam clean body. 350 tbi, non working trans, oil cooler, trailer hitch, 3:73 gears, bucket seats, all power. They I got it from had it about a year and he got it from the original owner. It came with a very big stack of receipts for the work that had been done over the years. Has brand new flowmaster dual exhaust, and the motor is original, but runs like a champ.

Was not looking to buy a burb, but the price was right and it was just used not worn out. Putting a 2.5" dropped spindle in front and a 1" drop in rear. Already have a 700r4 ready to go in. These burbs have saggy butts over the years. Another Craigslist find ! ! !

Yeah,... it has a couple things to fix,... but it's an original paint "wood floor" bed with nice factory painted wood. I'm pretty happy with it.

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

I finally got the interior of the Dually gutted nothing left but the steering wheel. I ordered a ton of new interior parts and an overhead console from a 90's burb. Next is to sand and paint all the metal and prep for the new interior

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

I spent most of the weekend removing the stock 305 in my '80 swb and installing the 350. The weekend flew by for me, waking up at 9 and working on the truck for 10 to 12 hours made time go by fast. She still isnt running yet but im close!

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

Finished putting the Headers on the Jimmy and started on the y-pipe and had an issue.
Tried starting the Burb for the first time in a while and found the battery was dead. It was an optima with a 36 month free replacement, so I took it back and got a new one
Found a leak in the radiator on my R10 (been riding my motorcycle for the past 2 months). Pulled it down to where I can get it out, but still move it. Looking for a new radiator now..

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

Didn't get much "truck" stuff done this weekend, took a break from the heat.

I did manage to make a shifter handle though. The truck will eventually be completed in a 50-60's hot rod style. I figure this handle will fit the theme. I've got to find me a cool knob though.

Re: What did you get done? 8/3 edition

Had a good friend get married this weekend so that was most
of it

I did get the windshield out of my parts 88 burb and put into
Rusty the rusty 84 long bed . but what a chore .
Getting the donor out of the 88 burb took 10 minutes
pull the lock cord push from the inside gently and out it came

Rusty's glass was badly broken and the weatherstrip was glued with
black sealant to the frame and the glass was glued with sealant to the weather strip
so it was an hour of cussing and breaking glass and vacuuming glass
and generally not much fun
new one went in in 15 minutes
