Re: 78 mustang frount

Are you talking an original MII crossmember or the aftermarket unit like Solidaxel has shown with the factory Mustang II suspension pieces. This is the way I am going as I have two sets of the necessary pieces here. It isn't as flashy as the tube type but will work well for me as you can't see under my truck anyhow.

Re: 78 mustang frount

This is the next one I am building on a 53.
Dodge Dakota 86 - 90 bolt on parts and R&P
The crossmember is welded to the boxing plates and the hats are assembled, weld to frame, complete!!
The right width and from a TRUCK !
Look up Industrial Chassis Inc

Re: 78 mustang frount

That has a brute strength look to it. I'll have to check the availability of the Dakota pieces in this area.

I picked up everything from the bone yard for except the power steering pump for 150.00. Good cores for replacement I think the R and P was 75.00 exchange, you will be surprised!!!!!
The ball joints were a little pricey but you will never wear them out!! I had all the bolt on stuff p/coated but a Krylon tune up is all that is necessary as these part will never be seen when the truck is completed.

Re: 78 mustang frount

I see that they don't offer that cross member for the 47;54 AD trucks though. At least not yet.

Call and ask for Steve (owner) I think he makes them up as requested.

Re: 78 mustang frount

After talking with Steve today at Industrial Chassis he said that he is on to another project for our AD trucks and is at this time not producing these crossmembers (Dodge Dakota) but he has devised even something even better. He is working on a chassis for Dynacrom and there AD products, it will be out soon.

Re: 78 mustang frount

tobins, check out my build thread, I have some pictures of the one that I am working on. Although it is not a factory setup it is the MII style from Heidts. I saw one at a local car show using the factory setup and it looked nice. He told me that he only had about 150.00 in the setup. I don't know how long ago that was though, but if I remember right it was a while back. He had bought a complete MII, stripped it for the suspension parts and bought the crossmember from someone like Heidts or Fatmans. Good Luck and if you need anything let me know.

Bernie

Looks like I live just around the corner from you in Keswick.

Tobins,
The GMC is a 551st series (Black) same frame (different truck) as the Chevy 53 which is post #4,
This is the only file that is small enough to upload. Send me a PM with your email address and I will send some in progress pics of the red 53 Chevy
