Sending Unit Seal
I know the seal in my 72 is SHOT. Is it better to buy a replacement gasket (if available?) or just use permatex or something similar?
if you overfill the tank you can feel the gas on the carpet and my armrest got stuck to it.. so I'm pretty sure that's the problem

Re: Sending Unit Seal
Order the gasket. Permatex may get into the tank and contaminate it and I don't believe you can make it thick enought to seal properly. The rubber seal is specifically made for that purpose and it's fairly thick.
