I wanted to build a model that looked like my truck. I bought what looked like a '63 resin kit off of eBay, but it turned out to be a resin reproduction of the 1960 promotional with a '63 grill (that had already been used before) and a GMC hood (weird). Anyway, I went to build my truck out of the '60 shortbox kit that you can buy in the hobby stores with my new used '63 grill, and while I was at it I just decided to do up the '60 longbox at the same time.
The '60 (the dust shows in the pictures, but the paint job is suprisingly perfect--especially for me!): ![]() ![]() It wasn't really designed to have an engine in it, so I was just going to glue the hood shut, but I had the 409 in my parts box, so you know, I used it. ![]() The '63. Obviously, this is the version where my truck is not as big 'a piece of crap as it is for real: ![]() ![]() Had to include my son's car seat. ![]() The hood doesn't fit great, and I know how to fix it, but it's one of those deals where I'm scared I'll screw something up, so maybe I'll just leave it alone. ![]() The inspiration: ![]() There you have it. ![]() Last edited by Revoh; 08-11-2008 at 06:15 PM. |

I just noticed the car seat for the little one... nice touch!
... And do you have a GMC hood left over? If so I would be interested..... |

I've got an old built '64 kit that was damaged in a crazy "bird in the house" accident. I think I'm probably going to make a GMC out of that at some point with my fancy hood. But, yeah, pretty strange that it was even on there. |
