you mean carriage bolts ? u can use 7/16 yet you may have to address the holes in the frame and they cost more . 3/8 are typicaly used

Which carriage bolts are you referring to?
The bed to chassis mounting bolts or the ones that mount the sides, inner fenders and front panel to the bed? |

On my GMC fleetside the bed bolts are 3/8th by 4" long. The short carriage bolts are 1/2" by 5/16th.
I wasn't able to find the 1/2 inch length carriage bolts in local hardware stores. The shortest they carry here is 1 inch. |
